ADD/ADHD is something people came up with so kids would shut up and zombie out in class or the living room so lazy teachers and parents wouldn’t have to do their fucking jobs.

I do think it’s overdiagnosed.  Some may have tendencies, but is medication a requirement?  Why not work with the kids to live with these tendencies, rather than pill popping.

Wow, somebody fucking pissed in your conflakes, asshole. Why do you care? It literally does not effect you does it? Probably not. I have a friend who has ADHD, is an adult, and actually also happens to work with children with Autism. So as someone who knows exactly how therapy can help children who suffer from disabilities that impede speech, cognitive functions and motor skills, I would say she has a much better insight to how therapy works and how it alone doesn’t work for everyone. She loves her job, she has several hobbies that she’s so passionate about, she lives with her best friend, and recently started dating a guy who she is really excited about. So I am going to guess that she isn’t just fucking bored. She needed some help coping with her ADHD, so she got some. I don’t want you or any other angry, self loathing asshole making her or anyone else feel bad about asking for some help. 

You’ve never dealt with a mental health issue have you? Has anyone close to you suffered from something like depression or ADHD? If the answer were yes you wouldn’t be ranting on the internet, trying to make other people feel bad about things like this. ADHD is real. My friend’s Mom had to refuse to let her records from her previous school be transferred because she didn’t want her daughter to be put in to a “special” class. This was when there was no proper diagnosis for ADD or ADHD, and no one really understood how to help. Sure, I understand you think that people use it as a cop out so they don’t have to deal with their children and that maybe people are too eager to pick medication over other methods, but that doesn’t negate the fact that it exists and people suffer from it every single day. Think about the fact that parents want the best for their children. If you saw that your child were struggling in school and wasn’t doing well socially, wouldn’t you at least try something your doctor suggests before you brush it off? Think about that for a second. 

I really hate when people get down on other people for taking medication. I take medication. I am the poster child for how it can help someone who needs it. I will remain open about my experiences for anyone who wants to ask questions. I maintain the fact that sometimes people just need a little help and shouldn’t feel shameful about asking for it. Almost always therapy and medication are temporary and effective. 

My anxiety literally was ruling my life. It was ruining my personal relationships, making school and work extremely difficult, and made me feel like I was never going to be good enough. I still have anxiety about a lot of things, but now it isn’t so overwhelming that I can’t function in my everyday life. I am able to be happy with who I am, and I can deal with the problems that plague me. It by no means fixed my life, but it’s allowing me to feel like I can actually tackle the issues that come at me.

So basically, fuck you, you have no idea what you are talking about.
